It was another good day for the Lowry High School track and field team this past Saturday at the Carson Invitational in Carson City.
The sister duo of Shelby Garrison and Rachel Garrison took home titles in the large event for the Lady Bucks.
Shelby Garrison ran a career-best time of 60.47 seconds to win the 400 meters. The senior was second in the high jump, clearing the bar at 4 feet 10 inches.
Rachel Garrison won the discus with a personal best throw of 128-1, beating out to girls from Bishop Gorman out of Las Vegas and the Southern 4A. The younger Garrison was 11th in the shot put with a toss of 30-2.50.
Senior Hailey Hinkle post her best time of the year in the 300-meter hurdles and was second in the event with a time of 47.73. She was seventh in the high jump, with a mark of 4-8.
Becca Kuskie finished third in the 3,200 meters with a time of 12:15.90 and the junior set a personal-best time in the 1,600 meters to finish sixth at 5:27.04.
Heather Hall provided a strong showing in the throwing events, placing seventh in the shot put, with a personal-best toss of21-1.50. The junior was 11th in the discus at 94-00.
Sophomore Julianna Gonzalez set personal bests in the 200 meters and 100-meter dash. She was seventh in the 200 meters at 27.52 and 10th in the 100 meters with a time of 13.81.
Lily Pasquale st a personal best in the triple jump with a leap of 28-1 to place 15th and the junior was 17th in the 300-meter hurdles (55.60) and 23rd in the long jump at 13-0.50. Lucero Ruiz was 19th in the long jump with a mark of 13-5.25.
The 4x400 relay of Adia Bengochea, Hailey Fernandez, Hinkle and Shelby Garrison were first in a time of 4:10.03.
The Lowry girls were fifth as a team with 60.5 points. Reed won the team championship with 11 and Spring Creek was second at 78.5. Bishop Gorman (65) and Douglas (63) were third and fourth, respectively.
On the boys side, senior Erick Lopez was fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 23.20 and eighth in the 100-meter dash at 11.47. Scottie Smith placed third in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-10 and Eduardo Aguilar set a personal best in the pole vault and was eight at 10-6.
Will Kracaw was fourth in the 3,200 meters with a time of 10:36.52 and the junior placed ninth in the 1,600 meters at 4:48.49. Sophomore Timur Krapvin set a personal best in the 400 meters with a time of 54.02 and placed ninth in the event.
Austin Nelson set personal bests in the triple jump (33-10.25) and long jump (17-6.50) to place 15th and 17th, respectively.
Brandon Lee set a personal best in the 800 meters with a time of 2:16.73 to finish 16th and Jasper Glasgow was 19th in the discus with a throw of 107-11. Glasgow also set a personal best in the shot put at 36-10.75.
Jacob Frazier was 14th in the 200 meters with a personal-best time of 23.91 and Julian Fimbers was 20th in the 3,200 meters in a personal-best time of 12:05.31.
Lowry placed seventh as a team with 27 points. Reed (171) and Bishop Gorman (143) were the top two teams.
The Buckaroos are in Truckee today and host their invitational on Saturday, May 5.
