Obituary: Honorine Pedroli

Lifelong Humboldt County resident Honorine Pedroli passed away peacefully April 7, 2018 in her home in Winnemucca with family at her side. She was one month shy of her 91st birthday.

Honorine Lucy Esparza was born May 4, 1927 to Marie (Esponde) and Genaro “John” Esparza, a few minutes after her sister Josephine. She enjoyed a lively childhood at the Winnemucca Hotel with her siblings Louie, Jo and Mary Jane “Liz.” Honorine graduated from Humboldt County High School in 1945.

In 1949, Honorine married Cleto Bengoa and moved to Kings River Ranch, where they welcomed children Margarita and Frankie. In addition to raising her children, Honorine enjoyed entertaining the other children in the valley; she was a 4-H Leader and would haul a station-wagon full of kids to the reservoir for swimming. She liked to cook and was an active member of the Nevada Cowbells. After a brief stint in Winnemucca so her kids could attend high school, she returned to the ranch until Cleto’s death in 1979.

Honorine moved to McDermitt to be near her sister Jo. She worked at Say When Casino for several years, and in 1988 married Tom Pedroli. She was active in the McDermitt Homemakers Club, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and attending rodeos to watch her children and grandchildren compete. After Tom’s death in 2005, Honorine returned to Winnemucca to be closer to her children.

Honorine is survived by her children Margarita (Tim) Delong and Frankie (Kathy) Bengoa, twin sister Josephine Reeves, grandchildren Timmy Lyn Delong, Rita (D.W.) Fowler, Ross (Brandy) Bengoa, Colleen (Barak) Freeman, great-grandchildren Cleo and Fallon Fowler, Kail and Logan Bengoa, Jett and Isaac Freeman, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that were loved and touched by her.

To respect Honorine’s wishes, there will be no services. Donations can be made in her name to the charity of your choice. Some of her favorites were televised Catholic Mass (renodiocese.org), Sacred Heart Church in McDermitt and the McDermitt Rodeo Grounds Fund.
