At a bench trial, Eduardo Antonio Quinonez was found not guilty of a charge of injury to or destruction of property.
A charge of possession of drug paraphernalia against Andrew Leigh Pullen was dismissed in open court on a motion by the DA’s office.
April 5
James Paul Franklin pleaded guilty to DUI 2nd offense and was sentenced to 60 days in jail with 50 days stayed for a period of 2 years. He was given credit for 2 days time served. The defendant can do 16 days house arrest as an alternative to jail time. He is to pay the fine of $750 + $140 AA + $60 forensic fee + $100 special DUI fee. The defendant can do 105 hours of community service as an alternative for the fine. The Victim Impact Panel and DUI School were waived. The defendant was also ordered to no alcohol, no controlled substances unless prescribed by a physician. No further criminal activity other than minor traffic violations. Other charges of operation of a motor vehicle with expired registration, open container and lighted lamps required were dropped as part of the plea agreement.
Hugo Rivera was found guilty at a bench trial of domestic battery and injuring or tampering with a vehicle. For Domestic battery, he was sentenced to fines of $200 + $105 AA + $35 Special Assessment fee, 30 days in jail with 28 days stayed for a period of 1 year. The defendant was given credit for 1 day time served. He is to complete 48 hours community service, 26 sessions of batterer’s intervention counseling, with monthly reports to the court. For injuring or tampering with a vehicle, the defendant was fined $1000 + $140 AA +$250 for court appointed counsel. The defendant read and signed the order to surrender firearms. The defendant was also ordered to no alcohol, no controlled substances unless prescribed by a physician, no further criminal activity other than minor traffic violations. Defendant was also admonished that pursuant to NRS 176.337 possession, shipment, transportation or receipt of firearm or ammunition may constitute a felony. A review hearing was set for July 2.
In a separate case, charges against Hugo Rivera of domestic battery 1st offense were dismissed on a motion by the DA’s office.
