Lowry boys beat North Tahoe in swimming action

The Lowry High School swim team was back in action last Friday at Alf Sorenson Pool in Reno.

The Buckaroo boys knocked off North Tahoe 112-47 but lost 192-73 to Truckee.

The Lady Bucks dropped both duals, losing 120-80 to North Tahoe and 213-50 to Truckee.

The Lowry boys cruised to the victory over North Tahoe with eight wins. Hunter Lewis claimed two victories, leading the way in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.79 seconds. Lewis dropped 20 seconds off his backstroke time to win at 1:09.55.

Nathan Perkinson won two events as well, starting with the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 58.59 and the breaststroke at 1:12.21.

Tristan Miller led a 1-2-3-4 finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:21.51. He was followed by Ashton Kalkoske (7:43.96), Kyle Cline (8:07.52) and Emmanuel Guillon (8:26.54).

Evan Jeppsen recorded to runner-up finishes in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.95 and the 100-yard freestyle at 1:08.85. Cline (2:42.79) and Kalkoske (2:48.79) were second and third, respectively, and Guillon (33.22) and Eli Cunningham (56.34) were fifth and seventh in the 50-yard freestyle.

All three of relays took home first place as well. The 200 medley relay of Lewis, Perkinson, Miller and Jeppsen stopped the clock at 2:04.76.

Lewis, Miller, Kalkoske and Perkinson won the 200-yard relay at 1:55.74 and Jeppsen, Cline, Guillon and Miller led the way in the 400-yard freestyle in a time of 4:48.02.

Lowry boys fall

to Truckee

Perkinson’s time of 58.89 in the 100-yard freestyle was the only victory for the Buckaroos over Truckee. He was the only swimmer to break the one-minute mark. Perkinson was second in the 100-yard breaststroke, losing by .06 seconds to Truckee’s Aaron Bronston (1:12.15-:1:12.21).

Lewis placed second in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke. Evan Jeppsen finished third in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle races and Miller placed third in the 500-yard freestyle.

The 200-yard medley relay and 200-yard relay teams were second to Truckee.

Lowry freshman Casalyn Perkinson took home the top spot in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 3:11.1 and was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:19.20.

Adya Goldblatt picked up a runner-up finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:21.95 and was third in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:15.06.

Halle Sullivan (2:49.75), Ale Ibarra (2:59.82) and Tara Higley (3:15.58) were second, third and fourth in the 200-yard freestyle. Sullivan finished second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 7:38.66 and Higley took of 27 seconds off her previous best time in the 500-yard freestyle and was third at 8:33.21.

Breanna Barber placed third in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:27.05 and she was fifth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:21.79. Mikayla Wright placed fifth in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 36.49 and Ibarra (1:48.08) was sixth in the 100-yard backstroke.

The 200-yard relay of Perkinson, Melissa Ramirez, Higley and Sullivan were second with a time of 2:29. The 400-yard relay of Sullivan, Wright, Barber and Goldblatt were second at 5:16.16.

Lowry girls fall to Truckee

Lowry lost its dual with Truckee, as Sullivan finished second with her time of the 500-yard freestyle. Sullivan was third in the 200-yard freestyle and Goldblatt placed third in the 100-yard freestyle.

Lowry is off this weekend and returns to Alf Sorenson Pool on Friday.
