Obituary: Peggy Jean Rose

Following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer, Peggy Jean Rose age 80 passed peacefully on March 25, 2018. Born July 14, 1937 in Kingman, Kansas, her family moved to California in the early 1940’s, because her Dad said that the family was starving and needed a new start. Peggy attended school in Tuolumne, Feather Falls, eventually graduating from high school in Eureka, California. While attending College at Humboldt State University, she met Bill Gallagher on a blind date. They married in 1956 and had two sons, Bill Gallagher Jr. and Neil Gallagher, where they lived on the Northern Pacific Railroad in an outfit car during which time Bill Gallagher was an equipment operator.

In 1967 Peggy married William Coyle; they had her third son, Jason Coyle. In 1971, they moved to Lovelock, Nevada. William was an operating engineer. While raising her sons as a business woman, she operated Brenda’s Cafe, Andy’s restaurant, the Jax Club and numerous motels.

In 1979, Peggy married Ed Rose and they bought a farm in Upper Valley and built a mobile home park, she continued operating the businesses until Ed’s death in 1998, at which time she sold her businesses, settling into retirement where she wintered in Yuma, Arizona with her friend Truman Eltrevoog of nearly 18 years.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Imo Patterson, and oldest son Bill Gallagher Jr. who succumbed to pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her brother Dale (Betty) Patterson of Prattville, Alabama, sons Neil (Lee Ann) Gallagher of Lovelock. Jason (Sherry) Coyle of Lovelock and daughter in law Jennifer Gallagher Helena, MT; two step sons Ralph, and Leo Coyle, and her very much loved Grandchildren Catrina (Gallagher) Majack and David Gallagher, Jacob, Nicholas, Daniel, and Maggie Gallagher, Robert and Brandon Coyle, and 15 Great Grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Salvation Army of Northern Nevada or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. A graveside service was held at Our mother of sorrows cemetery on April, 2nd in Reno Nevada.
