Obituary: Doris Mae Clifford

Doris (89) was born in Southard, Oklahoma to McCord and Emma Roberts. She moved to Tolleson, Arizona as a small child where she later graduated from Tolleson Union High School.  

Doris always had a love of singing, in high school she and her twin sister sang on a radio station in Phoenix, she was always singing Gospel Music with her lovely voice.  

Bill Clifford was the love of her life marrying him in 1949. They were blessed with two daughters whom she worshiped.  

They moved around alot, due to Bill’s work and finally settled in Winnemucca in 1969. 

They purchased Bill’s Newstand which Doris ran and loved the customers where they would come to visit daily. 

Bill and Doris bought Western Auto on Bridge Street, closing down the Newstand Doris worked at Western Auto until the two retired. 

She was proceeded in death by Bill, her parents, and her brother Charles Roberts. 

Doris was always about the love of her family, they meant the world to her. She loved her church and all it’s members.

Grieving for her are her daughters Debi (Skeeter) Morris, Susie (Jan) Stabile, her grandchildren Moriah (Sean) Collins, Erik Stabile, Justin (Ester) Dunaway, Nikki Yowell, Meghan (Andrew) Riley, great-grandchildren, Mason Pascall, Camryn and Lilli Collins, Kayden Yowell, Sawyer and Greyson Riley, Willa Dunaway, her brothers, Marshal Roberts, Gary Roberts, her twin sister Dot Massey and Gloria Hardison, Sister-in-law Betty Jo (Wesley) Kouts and many friends.  

Services for Doris will be held Monday Oct. 2nd at the Word of Light Church, behind Good Morning Furniture, officiated by her friend and preacher Nate Rhodes. 

Burial will follow at the Winnemucca Cemetery.
