Lowry volleyball drops two of three matches on the road

The Lowry High School volleyball team was back on the road for three matches and suffered its first two losses in the Northern 3A during that stretch.

The Lady Bucks were in South Tahoe on Friday, Sept. 22, and beat the Vikings 25-19, 14-25, 25-20 and 25-22 to avenge an earlier loss to South Tahoe at the Yerington tournament in the preseason.

Lowry made its way to Dayton on Saturday, Sept. 23. It appeared the Lady Bucks would carry the momentum over from the night before, winning the first set 25-20. However, the Dust Devils answered back and won the last three sets 25-21, 25-16 and 25-22. That was the first league loss for the Lady Bucks.

Lowry closed out a stretch of road matches on Tuesday in Elko. The Lady Bucks suffered their second straight loss, as the Indians won 25-23, 25-10, 21-25 and 25-22.

The Lady Bucks are fourth in the Northern 3A at 4-2. Fernley leads the league at 6-1 and Dayton and Truckee are tied for second at 5-1.

The top six teams advance  to the regional tournament in Fallon in November. The top teams receive a first-round bye.

Lowry hosted Truckee on Thursday and results were not available at press time. The Lady Bucks host Sparks on Saturday (today) at noon. Lowry is back home Wednesday to face Spring Creek at 6 p.m.
