The Lowry High School freshmen football team cruised to its second win of the season, crushing Wooster 54-12 this past Friday night in Winnemucca.
The Buckaroos jumped out to a 14-6 lead in the first quarter off touchdown passes by Caden Ricci. Ricci connected with Colton Von Aspern from 27 yards out for the first points and Aaron Woosley caught the second touchdown from five yards out.
Lowry extended the advantage to 20-6 early in the second quarter on a 2-yard run by Ricci. Moments later, Ricci threw his third touchdown of the night, hitting Sam Roth from 23 yards out.
Wooster cut the deficit to 28-12 with 1:02 left in the first half, but Lowry scored with 11 seconds left in the in the second quarter on a 23-yard pass from Ricci to Garette Hinshaw.
JJ Backus added touchdown runs of 12 and six yards in the second half and Seth Whitted capped the night off with a 44-yard touchdown run.
Lowry (2-2) travels to South Tahoe on Friday for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff.
