Lowry knocked off by Truckee

The Lowry High School football team hit the road last Friday for the first time in league play and suffered a 39-8 loss to Truckee.

The Wolverines were playing their lone Friday night game of the season. Truckee usually plays its games on Saturday.

Brendan Domire started his first game at quarterback this year for the Buckaroos and had Lowry moving down the field on its first possession of the night. However, an interception by Domire ended the drive.

One play later, Truckee quarterback Marcus Bellon kept the ball up the middle for a 60-yard touchdown and a 6-0 lead for the Wolverines after the missed extra point.

Lowry turned the ball over for a second time in the first quarter, leading to a 48-yard touchdown pass from Bellon to Cole Eichele for a 13-0 advantage.

Truckee added three touchdowns in an eight-minute stretch in the second quarter to push the lead to 32-0 at halftime.

Estabrook had the first score of the second quarter on a short touchdown run and Bellon connected with Brennen Conklin and Jamie Parisi on touchdown passes. Two of the scores were after a Lowry fumble and turnover on downs.

It appeared the second half was going to be scoreless, when Domire connected with Preston Snow on a touchdown pass. That prevented the shutout by Truckee.

However, seconds later, Truckee answered back with a long touchdown run by Marcus Trotter to account for the final score.

Lowry returns home Friday to take on Wooster at 7 p.m. at Jerry Tobin Field. Wooster enters the game winless on the season.
