Ben Robinson, age 66 of Reno, Nevada passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017.
Ben was born February 04, 1951 to Clyde Robinson and Ann Robinson-Sartin. He moved to Battle Mountain, NV in 1965 where he attended high school and met Judy Caravan. Ben and Judy were married on October 2, 1970, and had two children, Wally and Melanie. Ben and Judy later divorced.
Ben served in the Army National Guard between 1970 and 1976. After moving to Winnemucca in 1979, he worked in Uncle Buzz’s Shell Station Repair Shop for several years, owned and managed Doc Auto, and worked for Newmont Mining as a mechanic. In 2011, he moved to Reno NV and worked in the customer tech department at Summit Racing Equipment until his passing.
Ben was an avid car enthusiast and was passionate about anything automotive. He was a founding member of the Northern Nevada Racing Association and loved drag racing, circle track racing, working on and talking about cars. He loved participating in Hot August Nights, attending car shows, four-wheeling, hunting, fishing and camping.
Ben is survived by his son Wally (Shelley) Robinson, daughter Melanie (Vince) Wildeman, grandchildren Christopher (Laura) Wildeman, Marisa Wildeman, Taylor (Kaylee) Morrison and great granddaughter Malika Morrison. Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Robinson and Ann Sartin and his step-father, George (Stacy) Sartin.
Celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30th at the Vesco City Park on Mizpah Street in Winnemucca Nevada (across from the hospital). The family invites you to join them for refreshments in the park immediately following the services. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Northern Nevada Racing Association, your favorite charity or non-profit organization.
