WJHS boys basketball season starts Wednesday

The Winnemucca Junior High School boys basketball season begins on Wednesday with a road trip to Fallon for a 3:30 p.m. tipoff.

The busy first week continues with Winnemucca traveling to Carson City on Friday for a tournament that will begin at 3:30 p.m.

Winnemucca will be at home on Saturday for a game starting at 9 a.m.

Winnemucca is back on the road on Wednesday, Nov. 8, to play Silverland Middle School in Fernley at 3 p.m. The Warriors make the short trip to Lovelock on Friday, Nov. 17, for their final game before the Thanksgiving break.

Winnemucca will play in McDermitt on Saturday, Dec. 2, beginning at 9 a.m. and return home on Saturday, Dec. 9. The season concludes Dec. 15-16 with a tournament in Battle Mountain.

The first day of action in Battle Mountain starts at 4 p.m. The final day will begin at 8 a.m.

The seventh-grade team is coached by Clay Sagers and includes Braidyn Anderson, Giovanni Barrenechea, Jordan Bills, Dante Cassinelli, Carter Cheney, Frank Davis, Logan Fettic, Braden Hammargren, TJ Milton, Brandon Munoz, Coda Nichols, Justin Scott, Travis Urain and manager Shaun Gilliland.

The eighth-grade team is coached by  Todd Milton and includes Iysis Arriola, Kaiden Boyles, Zach Fernandez, Enoc Gaitan, Drew Harmon, Ayden Katzenmeyer, Dillon LaRose, Ismael Magana, Cal Peters, Wyatte Sakurada, Giovanni Sapien and Damian Zargoza.
