The Battle Mountain High School girls soccer team was on the road this past weekend and split a pair of matches.
The Lady Longhorns were in Ely on Friday afternoon and lost 7-2 to league-leading White Pine. The Bobcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead at halftime and did not look back.
Battle Mountain scored both of its goals in the final 40 minutes, but White Pine was also able to add to its lead with four more goals in the second half.
Battle Mountain got back on the winning track with a 5-1 win at West Wendover on Saturday morning. The Lady Longhorns built a 3-1 lead at halftime and cruised to the victory from there. Battle Mountain added two goals in the second half to account for the final score.
Battle Mountain is back home on Saturday to take on Pershing County at 10 a.m.
The Lady Longhorns are still in the hunt for one of the three playoff spots for the Northern 3A Regional Championships in Winnemucca on Nov. 2-4.
White Pine leads the league at 9-0-0. Whittell is second with a 6-1-2 record. Dayton sits in the final playoff spot at 5-4-0. Battle Mountain is a close fourth at 4-3-2. Fernley is fifth at 3-2-4.

The Battle Mountain High School boys soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to White Pine on Friday afternoon. The Bobcats scored one goal in each of the 40-minute halves.
The Longhorns collected a 3-1 victory on Saturday at West Wendover. Brody Young, Vincent Rosas and Heriberto Morfin each had a goal. Young and Rosas also had an assist.
Battle Mountain is off until Friday, Oct. 20, when it hosts at 2 p.m. The Longhorns host Whittell on Saturday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m.
Battle Mountain is also in a fight for the final playoff spot for thew regional playoffs. Fernley leads the league at 7-0-1. Battle Mountain is second at 4-3-1. Yerington sits in third with a 4-4-0 record and is followed by Dayton (3-3-2), West Wendover (3-3-1) and White Pine (3-4-0).
