The Lowry High School boys soccer team had the tough task of going up against two of the best soccer teams in the state this past weekend.
The Buckaroos traveled to Truckee last Thursday and suffered a 9-1 loss to the Wolverines. The match ended early as part of the new NIAA mercy rule. A match now ends if a team is trailing by eight or more goals after 60 minutes of play.
Truckee scored six times in the first half to lead 6-1. The Wolverines closed out the match with three more goals in the first part of the second half.
Lowry shut out by Sparks
Sparks, the defending 3A state champions, visited Winnemucca on Saturday and beat Lowry 5-0. The Railroaders scored twice in the first and added three more goals in the second half.
Lowry finished the first half of the league schedule at 2-5-1. The Buckaroos travel to Spring Creek on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. match. Lowry is back home on Friday to play North Tahoe at 4 p.m. and Incline on Saturday at noon.
