The Pershing County High School volleyball team hosted Battle Mountain this past Saturday. The Lady Mustangs defeated their guests in three sets 25-17, 25-10, 25-18.
The Lady Mustangs’ nine-girl team has been working on their attack, says head coach Lisa Clark. Their efforts show up in the statistics.
Sydney Jensen accounted for 13 kills and Makenna Houston and Faith Happy had four kills apiece.
“We hit the ball well today,” said Clark. “We’ve been working on being more effective offensively.”
Colbey Wanner had four aces, Taryn Houston added three and Jensen had two.
Happy and Maggie Baker teamed up against the Lady Longhorns with two blocks each. Wanner and Renfroe added one each.
“We have a few strong blockers on the net and some tough diggers in the backcourt which makes us tough to score on,” said Clark.
Taryn Houston had nine defensive digs. Wanner added eight. Jensen had seven. Wanner also had 17 assists. Baker added eight.
“The team did a great job of executing the game plan,” said Clark. “As we prepare for zone over the next month, we’ll continue to work on our attack.”
