With the close of the high school soccer season this weekend, the Northern 3A all-league and all-state girls soccer teams have been announced. The honors are voted by the league’s coaches.
Lowry High School’s Shelby Garrison, Hailey Fernandez and Rut Contreras were named to the honorable mention team.
Fernandez led the Lady Bucks with eight goals on the year from her forward position. She also had one assist.
Garrison added seven goals on the season at forward and Contreras had one goal, as she was honored as a defender.
Truckee’s Ava Seelenfreund was named the Player of the Year and North Tahoe’s Stephanie Bales was chosen as the Coach of the Year.
The first team was comprised of forwards Seelenfreund (Truckee), Maile Markham (North Tahoe) and Bailey Segers (South Tahoe).
The midfield included Kaitlyn McLeod (Spring Creek), Madio Wallner (Incline), Magnolia Neu (North Tahoe) and Kelsey Hogan (South Tahoe).
Danielle Dolan (Truckee), Lillie McGuire (South Tahoe) and Jamie Lanza (North Tahoe) made up the defense and goalkeeper Lauryn Drake (Elko) and utility player Ashley Child (Spring Creek) rounded out the first team.
The Northern 3A second team included Kayla Jones (Spring Creek), Breanna Hendrix (Elko) and Olivia Vigano (Truckee) at forward. The midfield was comprised of Amber Simonpietri (Truckee), AJ Hurt (North Tahoe), Sophie Curtis (Truckee) and Angelica Hurtado (Sparks).
Samantha Frates (South Tahoe), Emily Monson (Truckee) and Jordyn Dahl (Churchill County) were the defenders. Truckee’s Izzy Abarno and Britta Winans were chosen as goalkeeper and utility, respectively.
The honorable mention team was rounded out by Incline’s Sami Giangreco and Raquel Oliver, South Tahoe’s Giovana DeLoia, Morrison Salmon and Zoe Fiston, Elko’s Savanna Car and Aspen Fordin, North Tahoe’s Olivia Sproehnle and Madeleine Roberts, Spring Creek’s Kate Meisner and Churchill County’s Samantha Hines.
The all-state first team included Seelenfreund, Lilly Fulmer (White Pine), Dolan, McLeod, Drake, Markham, Wallner and McGuire.
The all-state second team featured Segers, Neu, Childs, Hogan, Lanza, Hannah Boxber (White Pine), Shawn Petersen (White Pine) and Anna White (Whittell).
