Northern 1A regional volleyball bracket changes

The Northern 1A Regional Volleyball  Championship bracket changed Tuesday morning when McDermitt High School pulled out of the postseason tournament.

The Lady Bulldogs were the No. 3 seed with a 5-5 record, but informed the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association that the squad would not have enough players to participate in the quarterfinals on Friday afternoon in Reno.

McDermitt was set to play Sierra Lutheran in the opening round. Wells moved up a spot from the No. 4 seed to the third seed. Jackpot (2-8) was added as the fourth seed form the Eastern 1A and played Coleville, Calif. On Friday night.

The semifinals (Coleville/Jackpot winner vs. Eureka/Virginia City winner) and the (Owyhee/Smith Valley and Sierra Lutheran/Wells winner) play at 10 a.m. and 11:45 a.m., respectively, on Saturday. 

The championships are set for 2 p.m.

The two finalists advance to the NIAA 1A State Championships at Faith Lutheran High School in Las Vegas on Nov. 10-11.
