The City Council and County Commission proclaimed Tuesday May 30 through Saturday June 3 Community Clean-Up Week. They request participation from local businesses, non-profit organizations, service groups and citizens to maximize the benefits of this coordinated effort to beautify the community.
The City Street and County Road Departments will offer free road-side pickup service for large trash items (like appliances) from May 30 to June 1. City residents must call 623-6333 before 3 p.m. on Wednesday May 31 to be placed on the City’s pickup schedule. County residents located in the: Grass Valley, Jones Subdivision, Golconda, Sand Dune and Sage Hills areas must call 623-6416 before 3:00 p.m. on May 31 to be placed on the County’s pickup schedule. Trash dumpsters will be provided in McDermitt.
The Volunteer Community Clean-up effort will take place on June 3. Volunteers are requested to report to either Pioneer Park or Highland Park at 9 a.m. on Saturday with their boots, gloves and tools (and reflective clothes if they have them). Cleanup assignments will be coordinated from each location and the City and County will provide garbage bags. The City Public Works crew and the County Road Crew will collect and transport all trash collected on Saturday to the landfill on Monday June 5.
