Battle Mountain’s Austin Wallock was in Carson City on May 15-16 to compete in the NIAA 2A State Boys Golf Championships at Eagle Valley West Golf Course.

Wallock shot 99 on day one and 103 on the final 18 holes to shoot 202.

“Eagle Valley West Golf Course has some difficult holes which will make you pay dearly if you hit an errant shot or get on the wrong side of the pin,” said BMHS coach Roger Wallock. “Austin played very well both days, actually hitting the ball better than he has all season, however each round he had a couple of holes that really hurt his score. Then he would bounce back and play very well again. Wind and weather on the second day didn’t help matters any. Overall, it was great for Austin to get to play in an elite tournament with great golfers and great atmosphere. Very proud of him.”

Lake Mead from Las Vegas won the state championship by one shot over The Meadows 895-896 to win the state title. North Tahoe was third at 944 and

White Pine (941) Incline (999) and Whittell (1,057) rounded out the team standings.

Yerington’s Griffin Cooper was the low medalist at 148. Veronica Joels (154) of The Meadows was second and West Wendover’s Braden Price (155) placed third.

Incline’s Satchel Hirsch (155) was fourth and The Meadows’ Kevin Inthackak (156) finished fifth.
