The Battle Mountain High School boys golf team joined a number of other schools from Nevada and California to close out the regular season last Thursday at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Stateline.
The Longhorns shot 514 as a team, with Austin Wallock leading the way at 97. Brody Young (98) and Jimmy Harris (99) also broke 100 on the day.
Alex Lopez carded a 107 for the Longhorns and Zach Heese had the final kept score at 109. Noah Villanueva shot an 113.
“We finally had a beautiful day to play and it happened to be on a great golf course,” said BMHS coach Roger Wallock. “We were able to see some of the west teams that we will have to compete against this week in regional tournament in Jackpot. We still have a chance to capture that 3rd spot that goes to state.”
The Northern 2A Regional Championship takes place Friday in Jackpot. The top three teams qualify for the NIAA State Championships in Carson City on May 15-16. The top five individuals on non-qualifying teams advance as well.
