Obituary: Ralph Clifford Fisher

Ralph Clifford Fisher went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 18, 2017 at the age of 84. Ralph was born September 27, 1932 to Roy and Berene Fisher in Arlington, MO and spent much of his early years there.

He attended Newburg High School where he met the love of his life, Ida Wilson. They were married on May 22 1956 and were happily married for 60 years.

Ralph is survived by his wife Ida and their two children, Lea Ann Prokasky (Curt) and Melanie Martinez Pirtle (William); His 3 grandchildren, Tony Martinez (Christianna), Benny Martinez (Jennifer) and Kelsey Mann; and his 4 great grandchildren Garette, Nya, JoRyan and Avery; His sister Ilah Jo Ely as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Berene Fisher.

Ralph joined the United States Navy and served from 1951 to 1954 as an Aircraft Radio Electrician. After graduating from college, Ralph and Ida moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico where he dedicated 40 years to Eberline Instrument Corporation. Anyone that knew Ralph could see that he was strong in his faith.

He was a Baptist deacon for over 30 years and loved participating in church activities. He was a guiding light to everyone who knew him, always willing to lend an ear or a word of encouragement.

He loved his family fiercely and nothing made Ralph happier than spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife Ida and loving father to Lea Ann and Melanie.

He would later become the greatest grandfather and “Papa” to his great grandchildren. He enjoyed watching his grandsons play baseball and would frequently embarrass them as he had no qualms about going up to their coaches and bragging about Tony and Benny.

If he wasn’t bragging about his grandsons, he could be heard talking about his “favorite” granddaughter Kelsey to anyone who would listen. Ralph never said no to a game of Rook and never met a board game he didn’t like to play. Some of his family’s fondest memories stem from gathering around a board game and just enjoying Ralph’s company.

Ralph touched so many lives. Everyone that had the privilege to know him was loved by him. He welcomed you with open arms and a smile on his face.

He is loved by all that had the pleasure of knowing him and his presence on this earth will be greatly missed.

His family would like to thank the caregivers and staff from Genesis, Circle of Life Hospice, Rosewood Rehab, Advanced Healthcare of Reno as well as the VA staff in Reno.

Family memorial will be held later this year in Winnemucca, Nevada.
