Buckaroo swimmers dual three teams in Truckee

The Lowry High School swimming team opened up its dual portion of the schedule last Saturday in Truckee.

The Buckaroo boys went 1-2 on the day with an 119-29 win over North Tahoe. Lowry lost 146-80 to Truckee and 107-81 to Churchill County.

The Lady Bucks scratched out a 67-62 victory over North Tahoe, but lost 165-49 to Truckee and 136-49 to Churchill County.

Nathan Perkinson finished second overall in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1 minute, 12.40 seconds and was fourth in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:37.78.

Garrett Gray turned in a runner-up finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:09.21. The senior was also second overall in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:01.43.

Liam Walls finished third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:08.74. Chanse McAllister (2:50.62), Aidan Maher (2:56.92) and Emmanuel Guillon (3:04.63) were fifth, sixth and seventh in the 200-yard freestyle. Maher also placed 17th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 33.47.

Tristan Miller finished ninth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:09.21, to go with a 15th-place outing in the 50-yard freestyle at 31.68.

Sophomore Evan Jeppsen placed 14th in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:22.40.

The 200-yard freestyle relay of Perkinson, Gray, Alex Shurtliff and Walls was second overall at 1:47.75. The 200-yard medley relay team of Gray, Perkinson, Walls and Shurtliff was third overall with a time of 2:00.10.

The quartet of Tristan Miller, McAllister, Shurtliff and Walls were third in the 400-yard freestyle with a time of 4:31.56.

Bree LeBrun led the girls team with an overall second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:19.60. In addition, she was third in the 50-yard freestyle at 31.36.

Freshman Adaya Goldblatt placed fourth in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:56.66, while Breanna Barber finished fifth in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:22.07 and Ale Ibarra was 10th in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:32.66.

Sophomore Mikayla Wright placed 12th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 36.01.

The 400-yard freestyle relay of Goldblatt, Wright, Barber and LeBrun were second overall with a time of 5:25.43. The 200-yard freestyle of Goldblatt, Wright, Ibarra and LeBrun were fourth at 2:24.89.

Lowry travels to South Tahoe today (Saturday) for a meet with the Vikings at noon.
