Obituary: Sharon Lynn Conklin

Sharon Lynn Conklin passed away peacefully surrounded by love, on Wednesday March 15, 2017 at 12:50 A.M.

She was born in Columbus, Ohio on December 31, 1940. In June 1969, she traveled west with her best friend, Ladonna Peluaga with whom she remained close friends with until the day she died. It was by accident that the two of them landed in Winnemucca, which became home to her and her first husband of 17 years, Ronald Jenkins, with whom she had two sons, Drew and David Jenkins. Sharon spent the remainder of her time here married to Gerald Conklin. Sharon worked as an Esthetician and book keeper.

She is preceded in death by her parents, aunts and uncles; as well as her brothers, David and Denny. She is survived by her children, Thomas Estell, Drew Jenkins, and David Jenkins; her daughter, Sandy Selman, and stepdaughter, Tina Carbone. Her grandchildren include Joseph Stuart, AJ Estell, Sidney Jenkins, Basje Selman, Sean Selman, Jacob Selman, Dempsey Jenkins, Josie Jenkins, and Tessa Jenkins. Her great grandchildren are Neveah Stuart and Zoie Estell.

Sharon’s love of life and energy were truly contagious and her smile could light up a room. Without a doubt, she could be counted on to lend a helping hand, a warm bed and meal, or even just a chat and a cocktail. She loved being outside, whether it be camping, tending to her roses and her vegetable garden, or just having dinner with her family on the patio. She could be found dancing the night way every year during the Fifty Fever events, and one thing she would tell you if you asked would be to get out there and dance like no one is watching!!!

There will be a Celebration of Life in her honor Saturday March 25, 2017 at 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. at the New Frontier RV Park. (across from Wingers) with a reception to follow at The Flying Pig BBQ. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the local Alzheimer’s Foundation.
