Following a run to the 3A state championship game, the Lowry High School girls basketball team had five players named to the respective Northern 3A all-league teams.
Sophomore Sydney Connors and junior Alyssa Kuskie were selected to the first team. Connors also earned first-team, all-state honors, while Kuskie was named to the all-state second team.
Connors was the leading scorer on the team with 12 points a game. She also averaged 3.4 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals. Kuskie averaged 9.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.9 steals a game.
The Lady Bucks advanced to the 3A state championship game, falling to Churchill County. Lowry finished the year at 24-5.
Fernley’s John Rogers was named the Northern 3A Coach of the Year, while Churchill County sophomore Leilani Otuafi was named the Player of the Year in the Northern 3A.
The remainder of the first team included Elko’s Alicia Marin, Fernley’s Hailee Edgar and Churchill County’s Faith Cormesser and Caitlyn Welch.
Otuafi and Marin joined Connors on the all-state, first-team from the North. Edgar, Cornmesser and Welch were second-team, all-state choices.
The Lady Bucks’ Kenadee Jeppsen was named to the Northern 3A second team. Jeppsen averaged 3.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals.
The second team was rounded out by Alexis Elquist (Elko), Leta Otuafi (Churchill County), Drue Chapman (South Tahoe), Kaitlin McLeod (Spring Creek) and Grace DeLeon (Fernley).
Lowry seniors Brooklyn Waller and Hannah Hillyer were honorable mention choices. Waller collected 7.0 points a game to go with 2.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.8 steals. Hillyer averaged 2.6 points and 3.0 rebounds.
The remainder of the honorable mention team included South Tahoe’s Maia Smith and Kaitlyn Janese, Truckee’s Maddie Monson and Izzy Abarno, Fernley’s Taylor Richardson and Brittney Gaitan, Dayton’s Kristina Mason and Eloria Neep, Sparks’ Angie Hurtado and Laree Murillo, Elko’s Brenna Hendrix and Gabe Rowley, Spring Creek’s Bailey Powell and Lauryn Walz and Churchill County’s Zoey Swisher and Kaitlyn Hunter.
