The Good Times Drag Strip held the Jumpin’ June Drags this past weekend. Racers from Carson City, Fallon and Utah joined locals in the fun. The track is 1/8-mile long with barricades along both sides.
The track opened in 2006. Improvements have been made through the years, with an eye for increasing safety and making a better layout for the track, which included adding a return lane and a better location for the spectator's benches.
The facility was constructed and wired by volunteers, paid for with both personal and local business donations.
Spectators will see some volunteers working the track including Mike Elliott (starter), Bill Brewer and Rodney Masterman (water box workers), Misty Unger as staging lane operator and Mike Ellifritz running the tower and race times. Steve Wasinger, President of Northern Nevada Racing Association spoke to racers regarding track rules and operations before Saturday's race started.
