Clarence died Sunday, June 11th. He was 93 years old. He was born on July 6, 1923 in Marlin, Mo. After his school years he moved to Hawthorne, Nevada to work at the Naval Ammunitions Depot. During World War II he joined the Army Air Force and was shipped out to the Pacific till the war was over.
After the war, Clarence worked in Lovelock at the Mineral Materials iron mines, Cooney Mining, and then Eagle Pitcher till he retired.
Clarence served one term as county commissioner, one term on the school board, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles as secretary for 50 years.
Clarence precedes his son Michael and grandson Tony Groppetti of San Joaquin, CA. He is survived by his wife Laverne of 64 years and children Christine, Yolanda, Yvonne, and Clarence Jr. He also has many grandchildren and great grandchildren that he loved dearly. Also surviving is his sisters Mary Brewster of Bowling Green, MO., Dorothy Hinkle of Stockton, MO., Sue Messmer of St. Louis, MO., Helen Todd of Louisiana, MO., and brother Richard Butler of Vandalia, MO.
