Eugene Dave, 73, of McDermtt, NV died at home May 23, 2017 after losing his battle with cancer. He was born on April 23, 1944 at Fort McDermitt Indian Reservation to Mary Skedaddle Dave and Latter married Georgianna Smart.
Eugene attended Fort McDermitt Day School until fifth grade then was sent to Stewart Indian School for a few years. He returned to McDermitt to attend McDermitt High School to the eleventh grade.
After leaving high school he worked at various ranches throughout the area. He latter secured a job working at the PWS Plant located on the Reservation, Working at the Cordero mine as an underground miner. Eugene was an active member of the Assembly of God Church,
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mechanic work and playing his Harmonica. He loved playing and watching basketball, playing adult volley ball at church and at school.
Eugene played basketball against the Harlem Globe Trotters, the Harlem Travelers, and the Harlem Clowns.
Eugene is survived by his children Andrew Dave, Elena Dave, Vincent Dave, Jean Dave, Jane Dave a step daughter Ione Crutcher and his mother Mary Skedaddle Dave.
He was preceded in death by his wife Georgianna Dave, his brothers Donald Dave and James Dave, sisters Edna Mae Dave, Annette Dave and Joann Dave Horse.
The family would like to thank those who helped with the care of Eugene including Renown Medical Center, Renown Rehabilitation center, Sonoma Funeral Home and everyone we failed to mention. Thank you for all your support during our loss.
Services for Eugene will be held in McDermitt on Wednesday May 31, 2017.
