Felony charges of possession of a controlled substance against Cristian Alejandro Gonzales were dismissed without prejudice on a one-time dismissal motion by the DA’s office. The motion was made due to pending charges in district court resulting from the same events.
In a separate case, misdemeanor charges of driving while license canceled or revoked and illegal turn were also dismissed without prejudice.
In a third case, Gonzales was charged with (1) possession of drug paraphernalia (2) operating a motor vehicle while license canceled, suspended or revoked and (3) illegal window tint. After plea negotiations, the DA’s office agreed to amend charges in count (2) to driving without a valid drivers license. Gonzales was fined $100 + $95 AA. Fines and fees were converted to two days jail time and defendant received credit for two days already served. The charges relating to possession of paraphernalia window tinting were dismissed without prejudice.
July 7
Juan Arias Vargas pleaded guilty in November of 2016 to charges of resisting a public officer. In in a plea deal, it was agreed that if he had no further problems with the law for six months, the charge would be reduced to misdemeanor disorderly conduct. At the hearing on July 7, that occurred. He was fined $200 + $105AA.
Charges against Jerardo Alcaraz for violation of a temporary or extended restraining order were dismissed on a motion by the DA’s office.
Lisa Janiece Ross pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of petit larceny. She was fined $750 + $140AA. She was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 28 days stayed for two years provided she serve two days in jail and has no new charges within a year.
Sheila Barr pleaded guilty to misdemeanor trespass charges, she pleaded no contest to additional charges of harassment and torturing, injuring or abandoning animals. On the trespass charges, she was fined $200 + 95AA, on count two, harrassment, she was fined $200 + 95AA. On count three she was sentenced to 40 days in jail with 30 days suspended for a year providing no new charges resulting in a conviction and no contact with victim. Barr was given credit for 10 days jail time already served and credit of $200 for 2 days jail time served.
Gross misdemeanor charges against Nicholas Skyler Miller for injury to or destruction of property were dismissed without prejudice on a motion by the DA’s office.
Pamela Jean Tom pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of petit larceny. She was fined $750 + $140AA. She was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 28 days stayed on condition she serve two days and has no new charges resulting in a conviction within a year.
Douglas Kevin Crawford pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI-1. Crawford was fined $400 + $125AA + $60 forensic fee + $100 special DUI fee. Four days of house arrest in lieu of two days in jail. DUI School and Victim Impact Panel ordered. An additional of count of lane violation was dismissed.
July 11
Allan Lynn McKinney pleaded guilty to amended misdemeanor charges of breach of peace.
The charges were amended after the DA’s office determined it could not prove domestic violence charges. The plea agreement stipulated the DA’s office would request the judge to sentence McKinney for a domestic battery.
McKinney was fined $200 + $105AA + $35 special domestic battery assessment. Defendant ordered to complete an on-line anger management court with proof of completion to be provided to the court. Defendant also ordered to have no contact with the victim.
