Obituary: John DuBry

Our father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and mentor took his final flight on earth October 18th 2016.  John was born to Marjorie (Olsen) and Calvin DuBry on December 12 1941.  John served in the Air Force and was trained to work on aircraft navigation systems.  He worked for AT &T until his retirement.

Our fondest memories of our dad was listening to him play music.  He was a self taught musician who was able to play any instrument given to him.  He practiced his music every morning and every night.  He was a bluegrass fan and went to many bluegrass concerts. Dad built things.  Dune buggies, go carts, satellite dishes, gyro copters, plane engines, rockets, and computers.

Our dad helped people.  He fixed things for them, he listened to them and he taught them.  Our dad started a new life 30 years ago. He felt his mission in life was to help people.  He touched many lives and will be known for being a gentle presence.  His enjoyable moments in life include flying his plane, operating his HAM radio equipment, building things, and his family.

He is survived by daughter Michelle (Mike) Jones, and son Jeff (Darla) DuBry; Kathie and Jennifer his ex wife’s children.  Brothers Tony (Pam), Mark (Sheral) and Sister Maria (Matt).  He had 6 grandchildren, Amy, Anthony, Alec, Autumn, Megan and James.

He is preceded in death by his parents Cal and Marg and his son Dennis.

Memorial services will be July 22nd 2017 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Winnemucca, Nevada at 12 noon.  Following the service the family would like to have friends gather at the Winnemucca Inn.  They have graciously allowed us use of a conference room.  Thank you to everyone who reached out to us (including his wonderful neighbors) and everyone in the community who was a part of our dad’s life.

The family of John DuBry.
