Nearly 35 young golfers took part in the Winnemucca Ladies Golf Club scramble to kickoff the 2017 junior golf season.
The teams of Paul Meckley, Byron Jimenez, Jaden Jimenez, Txema Bengochea and Charles Gonin and Russ Mullis, Trenton Mullis, Drake Lyon, Lauren Fettic and Dillon Patterson tied for first with rounds of 31.
There were four groups that carded a round of 33. The first was the foursome of Lori Warnert, Hayden Lyon, Hunter Mullins and Zane Fifield. Carole Doughty, Luis Mendoza, Luke Fentress, Peyton Capellen and Cal Peters shot 33, as did Lisa Weber, Angelina Martinez, Txendoa Cabatbat and Tatyana Carlson.
The last group to shoot 33 was Gail Piquet, Logan Pointon, Michael Heikkila, Kruser Wilkinson and Tristan Cassinelli.
Jonathan Aroz, Dutoit Gonin, Landon Esquivel and Tom Moser carded a 34 and Chukuma Jones, Hayden Case, Rodion Bondar and JJ Drobny shot 36. Della Domingo, Laci Fentress, Katelyn Cassinelli, Marquette Cassinelli and Greta Layton rounded out the scores with a 40.
The junior golfers begin with lessons in June and July and will play tournaments through August.
