Obituary: Pansy Mae Johnson

Pansy Mae Johnson went to be with the Lord June 29, 2017 after a long illness. She was born September 6, 1934 to Howard and Bertha Comstock.

At age seventeen Pansy met and married the love of her life, Everett Johnson on August 20, 1951, they married when Everett was home on leave from boot camp, shortly after he was deployed to Korea. Pansy was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in 1952 while Everett was deployed.

Upon Everett’s return from Korea they lived in Salt Lake City, Utah and California. They made their way to Nevada in 1962 where they made Winnemucca their home and raised three children. She loved her family dearly and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.

Pansy was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the fraternal order of Eagles for 25 years; she was President for four years. She was Treasurer of the Winnemucca Chapter of AARP.

She enjoyed volunteering at the Labor Day fair which she did for several years. She enjoyed her paint class and getting together with friends.

Pansy was a faithful member of the LDS church, she taught primary for many years as well as other callings.

Pansy is survived by her husband of sixty-five years , Everett Johnson, her loving daughter and caregiver Maelene Sortor (Mike) of Winnemucca , son David Johnson of Lovelock, daughter Faith Hawley (Scott) of Winnemucca. Grandchildren: Chase Sortor of Kodiak, Alaska, Michael (Aimee) Sortor of Kodiak, Alaska. Great- granddaughter: Laena Olivia Sortor of Kodiak. Granddaughters: Jenica and Rebecca Hawley of Winnemucca. Brothers: Ray Comstock of Idaho and Roy Comstock of Arizona, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Bertha Comstock, brothers Johnny, Richard, Bill, and Alex Comstock. Her sisters Eulah Hoppock and Joybell Krebaum.

The family would like to thank Humboldt General Hospital, the doctors, especially all the wonderful nurses who cared for Pansy the last week of her life. We would like to thank Victoria, Genesis Home Health, and Hospice. We would also like to thank Dr. Rosenquist for all the wonderful care he gave to Pansy.

Funeral Services will be held Monday July 10, at 11 am, at the LDS Stake Center in Winnemucca.
