The Rotary Club of Winnemucca held its sixth annual golf tournament May 6-7 with 40 teams participating at Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course.
Proceeds from the tournament benefit youth programs in Humboldt County supported by the Rotary Club.
The weather proved to be typical for a Spring weekend in Northern Nevada. All four seasons were experienced in a matter of a couple days.
The team of Jacob Wilner and Nick Fuller had a gross score of 136 to win the tournament and $900 in prize money.
Second, with a score of 139, was the team of Jeff Carter and Mark Carlson who won $750 in the pro shop.
Louis Roman and Tatyana Carlson with a 142 were third and earned $550. Fourth gross went to Dr. Dennis Verner and Dr. Nicklaus Verner with a score of 147 to win $400.
Tom Lee and Leo Leighton and Mike Willey and Jeff Herzog tied for fifth and split $250.
The net portion of the tournament was won by Joe Dendary and Bob Rice with a 121, which earned them $900.
Ken Mullins and Kevin Mullins and Roger Wade and Jon Shorter tied for second in the net division at 128 and the teams split $750.
Fourth net was also a tie and the teams split $400. Mike Adams and Manny Esquivel tied Pat Michael and Roger D. Wood.
Klondex Gold and Silver Mining Company sponsored a putting contest which began as the first day of play came to a conclusion.
The 50-foot putt was worth $10,000 cash. Mark Carlson qualified for a chance to win but was unsuccessful.
The closest to the line drive contest sponsored by Winner’s Hotel Casino was won by Heather Patterson and David Bryan on May 6.
The May 7 winners were Heather Patterson and Ken Moore. Each of them was awarded $100.
Newmont Mining Corporation sponsored closest to the pin. Winners on May 6 included Patterson, Candace Pulls, Mark Carlson and Tom Lee. Each were rewarded $200.
A and H Insurance sponsored a hole in one contest on hole No .5 with a prize of $10,000 cash.
Winnemucca Dental Care sponsored closest to the pin, won by Bob Rice and Jeff Herzog on May 7.
Sonoma Cycle donated a Polaris 4-Wheeler as a hole in one prize which went unclaimed during the tournament.
Klondex Gold and Silver Mining also sponsored $10,000 hole in one contests on both par threes each day of the tournament.
The longest drive contest was sponsored by American Mining and Tunneling.
On May 6, Roman and Patterson won the longest drive for $100 each. On May 7, Nicklaus Verner won the long drive for the men for $100. Tatyana Carlson won the ladies long drive on May 7 and was also awarded $100.
Humboldt General Hospital was the title sponsor and provided a golf shirt for every participant in the tournament.
Klondex Gold and Silver Mining was a platinum level sponsor for hosting four holes in one and the putting contest.
Jim Dandy Productions was also a Gold level sponsor of the tournament.
The Rotary Club of Winnemucca would like to thank all of the community businesses who advertised in the tournament, the members of the 40 teams who played, and the staff at the Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course for helping this tournament be so successful for the kids in our community.
All of the proceeds from the Rotary Club tournament are used to support youth activities, events, and scholarships for Humboldt County students.
