The Winnemucca Little League 10-11 All-Stars played host to the District 3 Tournament that concluded on Monday.
Winnemucca dropped both of its games, losing by one run in each game in heartbreaking fashion. Winnemucca took on High Desert (Fernley) on Friday and built a 5-1 lead in the sixth inning, but High Desert scored five times in the bottom of the sixth inning to win 6-5. Winnemucca took on Ruby Mountain (Spring Creek) on Saturday night and suffered a 16-15 loss.
Winnemucca overcame a 5-2 deficit to lead 6-5 in the fourth inning, only to see Ruby Mountain come back to regain the advantage at 12-6 after five innings of play. Winnemucca rallied for nine runs in the top of the sixth inning to go in front 15-12, but Ruby Mountain scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to win the game.
