June 20

Zachary Robert Ludington pleaded guilty to receiving, possessing or withholding stolen property. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail with credit for four days already served. He was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $650. Defendant was informed that failure to pay the restitution could result in a warrant being issued for his arrest. In addition he was fined $500 + $140AA.

Dale Barr pleaded guilty to DUI-1 and driving with an expired registration. An alcohol evaluation recommended a DUI workshop and attendance at Alcoholics Anonymous meetings three times per week for a minimum of six months with a report to the court. Barr’s plea agreement with the DA’s office provided that they would request the court to dismiss additional charges of violating requirements for driving on a highway with multiple lanes and having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle. Barr was sentenced to 10 days in jail, with credit for time already served. He was fined $400 + $125 AA + $60 forensic fee and $100 special DUI fee. He received credit of $100 for one day jail time served. His balance of $585 can be converted to 58.5 hours of community service. DUI School and Victim Impact Panel were ordered. The requirement that he have a breath interlock device installed on his vehicle was waived because of hardship. He was fined $75 + $75AA for driving with an expired registration but that fine is to be concurrent with his other fines. No Alcohol, No further criminal activity other than minor traffic violations.

Jazmin Lopez, originally charged with battery, agreed to plead guilty to an amended offense of disturbing the peace. She was sentenced to time already served. She was ordered to attend anger management counseling once a month for six months and to provide the court with proof of attendance.

A charge of texting while driving without a hands-free device against Lorne Richard Strom Jr. was dismissed on a motion by the DA’s office.

Joseph Leon White was sentenced on charges he failed to report a traffic accident. An additional charge of hit and run property damage was dismissed. He was fined $500 + $140 AA.

Johnathan Ivan Cook, originally charged with driving with a license that had been suspended or revoked, agreed to plead guilty to a lesser amended charge of no license in possession. He was fined $250 + $105AA



June 22

Richard Skyler Common pleaded no contest to a charge of first-offense domestic battery, made in March of this year. He was fined $400 + $140 AA + $35 special assessment fee. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 25 days stayed for one year, provided he is not involved in any other criminal activity. He is to serve five days, with credit for 2 days already served. The judge ordered 100 hours of community service and 26 sessions of batterers intervention counseling with monthly reports to the court.

Richard Skyler Common pleaded no contest to a second charge of domestic battery, made in June of this year. He was fined $600 + $140 AA + $35 special assessment fee. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 25 days stayed for one year, provided he is not involved in any other criminal activity. He is to serve five days, with credit for time already served. The judge ordered 100 hours of community service, which shall run concurrent to the 100 hours of community service ordered in the first domestic battery case. He was ordered to complete 26 sessions of batterers intervention counseling, which shall also run concurrent to the counseling ordered in the first case. The defendant was admonished that possession, shipment, transportation or receipt of a firearm or ammunition may constitute a felony.

Torry Bradley Twedt pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and being a convicted person failing to register an address change. A second charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. Twedt was sentenced to jail time already served.

In a separate case, charges against Torry Bradley Twedt, a charge of possession of a controlled substance was dismissed, pursuant to the plea agreement in the prior case.

A charge against Richard Skyler Common for first-offense domestic battery was dismissed. The DA’s office representative said they were unable to prove the charges.

A charge against Marcus J. Garcia for possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed pursuant to a plea agreement.



June 23

Daniel Joseph Shaw entered into a plea agreement with the Humboldt County DA’s office in which he pleaded guilty to a charge of resisting a public officer. He was also originally charged with failure to register as a convicted person, however the judge honored the agreement in the plea to drop the ex felon failure to register charge. Shaw was fined $250 + $105AA. He was given credit for time served.



June 26

Craig Deke Garfield pleaded guilty to DUI-1. A charge of driving with an expired registration was dismissed. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 28 days stayed for a year, on condition he serve two days. He was fined $400 + $125 AA and $60 forensic fee + $100 special DUI fee. He received credit of $100 for 1 day time served. DUI School and Victim Impact Panel were ordered.



June 27

Kevin Dwight Hansen pleaded guilty to DUI-1. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 28 days stayed for one year. He was given credit for one day already served and given the opportunity to choose 24 hours of community service as an alternative to the additional one day in jail. He was fined $400 + $125 AA + $60 forensic fee + $100 Special DUI Fee. Fines and fees were converted to 69 hours of community service. DUI School and Victim Impact Panel were both ordered. The requirement that a breath interlock device be installed on any vehicle Hansen drives was waived because of financial hardship. The defendant was ordered to no alcohol, no controlled substances unless prescribed by a medical professional. A second charge of speeding was dismissed on a motion by the DA’s office, pursuant to the plea agreement.

Derrick James Crutcher pleaded guilty to a charge of injury to or destruction of property. He was fined $1,000 + $140 AA. He was given credit of $700 for seven days served in jail. The judge suspended the balance of $440 on condition Crutcher pays restitution in the amount of $314.28.
