Obituary: Virgil O. Churchman

Vic, Virgil O. Churchman left this world on January 16, to be with his heavenly father. He was the son of Robert and Kathryn Churchman and was born on Sept. 15, 1942 in Hutchinson, Kansas.

He served with the Army during the Vietnam War. After the war he received his AA degree. He worked mainly labor jobs, and had his own landscaping business.

He was injured while working at Hycroft, thus ending lots of work time. Vic was an avid fisherman and hunter and did both until 2015, when his health took a dive.

He met his love of 35 years while participating in saddle bronc riding at the Reno Finals. They married a week later, who says love doesn’t last? Vic and his wife raised and showed Arabian horses.

Vic is survived by his wife Judi, daughter Trisa Knight (Michael) of Rocklin, CA; son Donny (Stefenie) of Texas; brothers Bill (Joan) of Truckee, CA, Michael of Truckee, CA, Donald of Gardnerville, NV, 11 grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

At Vic’s request, there will be no services. Those wishing to do so may donate to the charity of their choice.
