BMHS JV girls start league play with a win and two losses

The Battle Mountain High School junior varsity girls basketball team has started out Northern 2A action with one win and two losses.

The Lady Longhorns took on Incline on Saturday, Dec. 17, in their final game of the calendar year. Battle Mountain suffered a 47-37 loss to the Highlanders. Kira Smith had a team-high 10 points and Drue Domagala and Hannah Payne each scored eight.

After taking a couple weeks off for Christmas break, Battle Mountain returned to the floor this past Friday and beat West Wendover 50-32. Mary Woltes finished with 16 points and Domagala and Smith netted 10 points apiece.

Battle Mountain finished the road trip on Saturday with a 35-16 loss to White Pine. Domagala led the Lady Longhorns with eight points.

Battle Mountain traveled to Lovelock on Tuesday to play Pershing County and results were not available at press time. The Lady Longhorns are home Friday to play Yerington at 3 p.m.
