Obituary: Gladys Davis Robinson

Gladys Davis Robinson, 102, of Winnemucca, NV passed away December 8, 2016 in Reno, NV with family by her side.

She joins her husband, Clyde, 32 years to the day of his passing, also daughter Anne Mehrten and sons Bill (Neeley) and Earle.

Gladys was born November 2, 1914, in Talladega, AL but grew up with her family in Jacksonville, FL until her family came cross country in the 1930s to Winnemucca.

She met and married Clyde Robinson and they began their journey together in the mining area of Davytown. Over their lifetime, they raised 6 children and moved west of Winnemucca to a small farm.

Along with raising her children, she worked at the Stockman’s store and Humboldt Hotel. Gladys, known to her loved ones as “Mimi”, would always feed anyone who walked through the door and wouldn’t take no for an answer.

She hosted many family holiday celebrations with feasting, fun and laughter. She loved having her family around including her 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Mimi was the kind of woman you didn’t argue with and you listened the first time she told you to do something. Although she was sometimes tough, she was a very generous and kind woman who never forgot birthday cards with a little something in it. She was a strong woman who lived a very full and long life.

She is survived by daughter Betty (John), sons James (Dodi) and John (June). We miss her very much but she will always be in our hearts and memories.
