Obituary: Edna Hannah Schuyler

Edna Hannah Schuyler, 96, of Winnemucca, NV passed away on February 20, 2017 at the Battle Mountain General Hospital Nursing Home.

Edna was born in Midas, NV on December 27, 1926 to Edwin Johnson and Elaine Johnson-Milner; four years later she welcomed her baby brother Everett. She lived in Midas until the age of sixteen, she then moved to Utah with her father and brother Everett. Edna later met and married Charles (Smokey) Schuyler they made their home in Winnemucca.

She had been a waitress at the Ferris Hotel, Sonoma Inn, and the Red Bull. She was an Avon lady for more than 35 years, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Edna was Secretary for the AARP, President and past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Edna enjoyed life, playing bingo, going to the Senior Center in Winnemucca when she was able to do so, she loved her cat Dixie. Most of all she loved her younger siblings, and enjoyed being their Big Sis.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Elaine Johnson, and her husband Charles (Smokey) Schuyler.

She is survived by her brothers Everett (Pansy) Johnson, Alfred (Vi) Milner of Winnemucca, Louis (Ann) Milner of Wisconsin, Billy Milner of Maine, Sister Wanda Jones of Michigan, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the LDS Church Stake Center located at 111 W. McArthur in Winnemucca, NV on Wednesday March 1, 2017. There will be a viewing at 10:00 am followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Burial will be at the Winnemucca Cemetery following the service.

The family would like to thank the staff of Battle Mountain General Nursing Home for their care and compassion given to Edna while she stayed there.
