After a couple of months off due to Winter, the Humboldt County Rodeo Club was back in action last weekend in Boulder City to begin the spring portion of its schedule.
Julianne Montero turned in two fifth-place finishes on Saturday, Feb. 11. She had a time of 17.114 seconds in barrel racing and she stopped the clock at 8.73 in goat tying. In addition, Montero was 12th in breakaway roping at 4.16.
Kerstin Christiansen placed ninth in pole bending in the first performance at 22.766, while Allyssa Nimmick (22.992) was 13th and Audrey VanBuren (23.359) placed 15th. VanBuren added a 13th-place finish in barrel racing with a time of 17.230.
In the first performance at the junior high level, Kayla Curtis was sixth in barrels at 18.418 and 12th in pole bending at 27.918.
In the second performance on Sunday, Montero jumped to the top of the standings in goat tying at 8.66. The Lowry sophomore was second in barrel racing with a time of 16.487.
Nimmick moved up the pole bending standings, finishing fifth with a time of 22.050. Christiansen was seventh in the second performance of pole bending at 22.270 and 14th in barrel racing in a time of 17.442.
VanBuren was 11th in pole bending at 23.270 and Bailey Reynolds was 13th in breakaway roping at 3.86.
In the junior high division, Curtis was fourth in breakaway roping in a time of 6.98 and 13th in barrels at 23.049.
The Humboldt County Rodeo Club is off this weekend and travels to Moapa on Saturday, Feb. 25, and Sunday, Feb. 26.
The Nevada State High School Rodeo Association moves the circuit back to northern Nevada on Mar. 10-12 at Fernley.
The spring schedules ends with Douglas/Carson (Mar. 24-28), Fallon (Apr. 2-9), Washoe (Apr. 21-23), Lincoln County (May 5-6) and Wells (May 12-14)
The junior high and high school state finals will be May 25-29 at the Winnemucca Events Complex.
The National Junior High Finals Rodeo is June 18-24 in Lebanon, Tenn., and the National High School Finals Rodeo is July 16-22 in Gillette, Wyo.
