Ila June Shepherd passed away on February 9, 2017 at Elko Regional Hospital. She was born on July 24, 1929 in St. Joe Missouri to Hartley John Hoffman and Loree Lillian Gillenwater Hoffman. She came to Battle Mountain when she was 17 and has been a resident ever since.
She was formerly Treasurer of Lander County from 1983 to 1993. She was also employed at Nevada National Bank for 14 years. She was an Officer in the American Cancer Society, Battle Mountain PTA, Republican Womans Club and the Battle Mt. Cemetary.
Preceding her in death were her parents, and her husband, of 56 years Leonard H. Shepherd. She is survived by her sons Bruce (Kathy) of McKinleyville California, and Lennie (Shirley) of Battle Mt. Sister Mayva McCorkle of Tulsa Oklahoma and Johnnie Hoffman of Pensacola, Florida Grand children Jodi (Tony) Moore, Kevin (Tracy) Shepherd, and Sean and Lennie Shepherd. Great Grandchildren Satica Pipkins, Kade Jones. Trey Shepherd and Darion Ituriagga, Great Great Grand Children Rylee and Tessa Pipkins. She is also survived by Nieces Larina Shepherd and Lisa McLaughlin and Nephews Mitch. Mike, Mark McCorkle, Dan McLaughlin and Tyler Shepherd.
Ila also considered Dan Filippini her third son and his wife Eddie Ann and children Max, Mary and Hank have been a special part of her life.
