Nevada High School Finals Rodeo returns to Winnemucca

The preliminary schedule for the 2017-18 Nevada State High School Rodeo Association season has been released and Winnemucca will host the Nevada State Junior High and High School Finals from May 25-29 at the Winnemucca Events Complex.

The season just ended with the national finals in Wyoming, but the new year is set to get underway on Sept. 9-10 in Battle Mountain.

There will be five more rodeos in the fall including White Pine (Sept. 23-24), Elko (Oct. 7-8), Spanish Springs (Oct. 21-22), Alamo (Nov. 4-5) and Las Vegas (Nov. 18-19).

The circuit will take the winter off and return to action on Feb. 10-11 in Boulder City. The cowboys will stay in southern Nevada to compete in Pahrump on Feb. 24-25.

Fernley and Moapa will have rodeos in March, while the circuit stops in Fallon, Washoe and Douglas/Carson in April. Lincoln County and Wells closes out the regular season in May.

The National Junior High Finals Rodeo is moving to Huron, S.D., from June 24-30 and the National High School Finals Rodeo is July 15-21 in Rock Springs, Wyo.

The Humboldt County club had one of the largest groups last year and enjoyed much success. A number of riders took part in the state finals, Silver State International Rodeo and the national finals.
