William D. Black “Dave” has passed away after a long and tough 10 year fight with MDS and Leukemia.
He was 64. He lived in Winnemucca NV and moved to Orovada in 1981, where he took the post of Nevada Highway Patrolman. He worked from 1981 for 27 years until his retirement in 2008.
He helped a lot of people and brought joy to everyone he touched.
He loved his life in Orovada, and he treasured and truly cared for the many friends he made there, and everywhere.
After he retired, he enjoyed spending his time trap shooting, hunting and fishing and working at the rural fire department. And by far his favorite pastime was talking to everyone. He could spend hours telling tales of his many adventures. You could just listen forever. It brought him great delight to make everyone around him happy and comfortable. You couldn’t help but love him.
He was married to Tina Black for 41 wonderful years.
He is survived by his daughter Danielle Benavides, her husband Rigoberto and two children, Jocelyn, 6 years old and Adam, 4 years old. He has two other granddaughters, Tatiana, 15 years old, and Lilyana, 13 years old. He also has a brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Judy Black, and his nieces, Johnna Black and Michelle Ingalls (Dustin), Theresa Rice and her family. He also has great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Sue Black, and son Tim Black.
We will miss him greatly. The loss is tremendous to our family. We are truly graced to have had this amazing man in our lives.
We would like to thank his Doctors, Dr. Singh, and Dr. Li. The hospitals: RENOWN Medical and Humboldt General Hospital and their nursing staff. They took personal interest in his care and looked out for him as if he were their own, also to the Ambulance services. They were all so kind.
If you are thinking of donations, please consider donating blood or platelets. The Red Cross has regular Blood drives, or where ever you can. There are many Leukemia patients, and others that can use your help.
