The postseason is quickly approaching for the McDermitt High School track and field team and the squad was in Eureka on Friday, April 21, for the Eureka Invitational.
Sophomore Precious Masters collected a runner-up finish in the shot put with a personal best throw of 31 feet. 3.75 inches. In addition, she finished 15th in the discus with a toss off 61-7, also a personal best.
Fellow sophomore, Shania Lenoir was the only other Lady Bulldogs to compete and she placed 12th in the shot put with a throw of 23-3.50.
On the boys side, freshman Jagger Hinkey was fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 32-4.50.
He ran a personal best 51,08 seconds to finish seventh in the 300-meter hurdles. He set a personal best in the shot put with a throw of 32-9.
McDermitt is in Winnemucca today (Saturday) for the Lowry Invitational at 9 a.m. The Bulldogs travel to Fallon on Saturday, May 6 for the Northern 1A trials.
The NIAA Regional Championships will be held May 12-13 at Carson High School in Carson City. The state championships are set for May 19-20 at Foothill High School in Henderson.
