Lowry High School junior Nathan Perkinson tied the school record in the 100-yard breaststroke, helping the Buckaroos to a 137-21 win over Incline at Alf Sorenson Pool in Reno on Friday, April 21.

Perkinson stooped the clock at 1 minute 10.34 seconds, which tied him with Andrew Stephen, who set the record back in 2010.

Perkinson also led a Lowry 1-2 finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.88. Garrett Gray (1:01:37) was second, but Gray claimed first place in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:06.25.

Senior Liam Walls was the overall winner in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:06.27, which was two seconds better than his seed time. He beat out seven other swimmers from Spanish Springs and North Valleys, who were in a separate dual.

Hunter Lewis won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:53.75 and was second overall to a Spanish Springs’ swimmer. Lewis, a freshman, finished third in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:07.39.

Kyle Cline (2:39.88) and Aidan Maher (2:40.94) were first and second in the 200-yard freestyle. Cline took off more than five seconds off his seed time.

Later in the day, Cline placed third in the 50-yard freestyle at 33.15, while Justin Johnson (34.01) and David Roberts (34.70) were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 50-yard freestyle.

Tristan Miller finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 32.37 and the freshman was third in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:39.06. Emmanuel Guillon (1:17.78), Evan Jeppsen (1:17.68) and David Roberts (1:19.00) placed fourth, fifth and sixth in the 100-yard freestyle.

The 200-yard medley relay of Gray, Perkinson, Walls and Lewis were first overall in a time of 2:00.63. Incline did not compete in the race. The Buckaroos beat out the ‘A’ team of Spanish Springs by .06 seconds.

The 200-yard freestyle re;ay of Lewis, Johnson, Miller and Walls was also uncontested by Incline and the Buckaroos won with a time of 2:00.07. They were third overall.

Lowry’s ‘B’ team of Roberts, Maher, Guillon and Jeppsen were fourth overall at 2:14.56. The 400-yard freestyle relay of Jeppsen, Guillon, Cline and Miller didn’t have a race with Incline and were fourth overall in a time of 5:04.10.

The Lowry girls lost its dual to Incline 94-71. Hallie Caratzola led the way in the 50-yard freestyle at 30.00, while Bree LeBrun took home the top spot in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:12.69. LeBrun was second in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:21.27 and Caratzola was third with a time of 1:25.52.

Halle Sullivan (2:50.39) and Ale Ibarra (3:06.16) finished second and third, respectively, in the 200-yard freestyle. Mikayla Wright (35.27) and Melissa Ramirez (39.20) placed third and fifth in the 50-yard freestyle. Breanna Barber was sixth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 39.37.

The Lady Bucks were hurt in the team race, as the 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relay teams were disqualified. The 200-yard freestyle relay of Wright, Ramirez, Ibarra and Sullivan won with a time of 2:25.75.

Lowry is in Reno today (Saturday) to take on Sage Ridge at noon at Northwest Pool. The regular season concludes on Saturday, May 6, against Fernley in Minden.
