Carson City was a busy place for the Lowry High School track and field team, as the Buckaroos sent a junior varsity squad to the state capitol for the Carson JV Invite.
Sophomore Lily Pasquale paced the Lady Bucks with a fifth-place finish in the long jump at 13 feet, 9.50 inches. Pasquale also placed 10th in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 57.91 seconds.
Fellow sophomore Ashley Salgado was sixth in the discus with a personal-best throw of 83 feet, 11 inches and freshman Julianna Gonzalez was ninth in the 100-meter dash at 14.24, a personal best for her.
Breanna Sowinski finished 14th in the 400 meters in a time of 1:16.63, a personal best and was 27th in the 200 meters at 33.55.
Ariana Galindo-Godinez (31.35) and Carly Capellen (31.86) were 18th and 21st in the 200 meters. Their times were personal bests for both athletes.
The 4x100 relay of Galindo-Godinez, Capellen, Gonzalez and Pasquale were fifth in a time of 59.75. The same foursome were seventh in the 4x200 relay at 2:06.22.
On the boys front, Bryan Day cleared 9-6 in the pole vault for a career-best to finish third. The junior placed ninth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 45.07, also a personal best.
Sophomore Scottie Smith was fourth in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-2 and he finished 22nd in the 400 meters at 59.91. Freshman Jace Mentaberry claimed a sixth-place outing in the 300-meters at 44.05, a personal best and he added a 13th-place finish in the pole vault at 8-0.
Jacob Means secured a top-10 finish in the 3,200 meters, placing ninth at 11:53.18, a personal best. Colton DeLaMora was 10th in the long jump at 16-10.50 and Colby Terry was 12th in the pole vault at 8-6.
Octavio Ruiz placed 11th in the 3.200 meters at 12:10.50 and Julian Fimbers placed 12th in the 1,600 meters with a time of 5:22.20.
The Buckaroos will be at home today (Saturday) for the Lowry Invitational at 9 a.m.
A portion of the Lowry squad will travel to Sparks on Tuesday for the Spanish Spring JV Invitational at 3 p.m.
