Vernon Swanger passed away at the age of 75 at Humboldt General Hospital on April 5, 2017. He was born on April 29, 1941 in Iowa City, Iowa to Freddie Lee Swanger and Dorothy Louise Elsen.
Vernon Attended the Hawthorn High School. He lived in Nevada for most of his life, and in 1974 he moved to the small town of Orovada. There he worked for Harney Electric and also worked for other power companies around the state. He loved horses and their beings.
Vernon is survived by his wife Debbie Swanger; Children- Vonna Swanger and Vickie Harley; Step- children- Kelly Leoni of California, Jason McSwain; Grandchildren- Max Hartley, Ashley Leoni and Jarrod Leoni of California; Great- grandchildren- Raven Leoni of California; Brothers- Bobby Swanger .
He was preceded in death by his brothers Wilbur Swanger and Jerry Swanger, his son Vernon Swanger Jr., and his parents Freddie Lee Swanger and Dorothy Louise Elsen.
A family service will be planned at a future date.
