Loa Riddle Long, 82, of Lovelock, NV passé from this life on Thursday April 6, 2017 at RENOWN Hospital in Reno, NV.
Loa was born on September 5, 1934 in Oakland, CA to Edgar J. Riddle and Zona Lillis Taylor.
She was one of nineteen children. In 1944 the family moved to Reno and in 1945 they moved to Lovelock where she lived the remainder of her life. She graduated from Pershing County High School with the class of 1952. After graduation she moved to Reno where she attended Business School.
After returning home Loa married the love of her life Robert Dale Long in 1953. Robert was a general building contractor and she took care of the bookkeeping for his business. Following Roberts death she cared for others children and worked in Home Health Care, always caring for others. Loa retired from the Pershing County Sheriff’s Department as a dispatcher and went to work for the Pershing County Cemetery Board as the Sexton retiring at the age of 80.
Loa was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the PCHS Alumni and the Lovelock and Truckee Meadows Quilters. She had a passion for quilting, family history and her cemetery work. She loved people and enjoyed helping others in any way she could.
Loa is survived by her three children Kenneth (Mary) Long of Pendleton, OR, Marlene Shier of Winnemucca, NV, and Russell (Paula) Long of Kerns, UT.; her grandchildren Robert Dale, Nellie, Kenneth Richard, Lillis, Loanna, Melonie, Mechele, James, Jennifer, Amy and Robert Dean; she had fourteen great grandchildren; her brother Cal (Gay) Riddle. She was in attendance for the birth as many of these babies as was possible.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edgar and Zone Riddle, her husband Robert D. Long, her brothers Dale, Don, Dern and Burr Riddle; her sisters Oma and Nancy; granddaughter Paula and eleven half brothers and sisters.
Services will be held in Lovelock at the LDS Church with viewing at 9:30 and funeral at 11:00 am on Saturday April 15, 2017. Burial will follow at the Lone Mountain Cemetery.
