Lowry swimmers drop dual to South Tahoe, return to action on Friday

Before heading out on spring break, the Lowry High School swim team traveled to South Tahoe on Saturday, April 1 for a dual with the Vikings.

South Tahoe won both duals, with the boys claiming a 105-84 victory, while the Lady Bucks were defeated 148-56.

Nathan Perkinson took the top spot in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1 minute, 12.75 seconds, while teammate Liam Walls led the way in the 100-yard freestyle at 58.17. Walls was second overall in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.87, but was first in the dual against South Tahoe. Perkinson was fourth overall in the 50-yard freestyle at 26.07.

Freshman Tristan Miller turned in a runner-up finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:31.43 and he was 12th overall in the 50-yard freestyle at 31.25.

Aidan Maher (2:42.15) and Emmanuel Guillon (3:03.62) were fourth and fifth in the 200-yard freestyle, while freshman Hunter Lewis was fourth in the 100-yards breaststroke with a time of 1:25.59. In addition, Guillon was seventh overall in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:17.66 and Evan Jeppsen (1:19.78) was eighth in the 100-yard freestyle. Alex Shurtliff placed third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 7:43.39.

The boys 200-yard freestyle relay of Miller, Perkinson, Maher and Lewis were third overall with a time of 2:02.53. The 400-yard freestyle relay of Maher, Jeppsen, Guillon and Shurtliff were second at 5:08.79.

On the girls side, Halle Sullivan (2:53.70) and Adaya Goldblatt (2:54.17) were second and third in the 200-yard freestyle. Goldblatt, a freshman, also earned a top-10 finish in the 50-yard freestyle. Placing eighth in a time of 33.33.

Hallie Caratzola finished third overall in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 29.57, while sophomores Mikayla Wright (36.61) and Breanna Barber (37.12) were 15th and 16th in the event. Caratzola (1:27.12) and Barber (1:28.65) were third and fourth, respectively, in the 100-yard backstroke. Wright placed sixth in the 100-yard back stroke and Ale Ibarra was ninth in the event.

Melissa Ramirez, Jennifer Milton and LeeAnn Barber were seventh, 10th and 11th in the 100-yard freestyle.

The 400-yard freestyle relay of Breanna Barber, Ibarra, Wright and Goldblatt were fourth overall with a time of 5:47.28.

Lowry was off this past weekend and returns to the pool on Friday at Al Sorenson Pool in Reno.
