The Battle Mountain High School boys golf team shot a season-best 498 in Jackpot on Thursday, April 6. The Longhorns finished fourth as a team, just three shots behind third place.
Brody Young led the charge for Battle Mountain with a round of 96, while teammates Austin Wallock and Noah Villanueva each shot 97. Zach Heese carded a 102 and Alex Lopez had the final kept score at 106. Jake Smith shot a 137 for the Longhorns to round out the scores.
Battle Mountain travels to Ely on Thursday for a 10 a.m. start. The Longhorns will host its meet at Mountain View Golf Course on Thursday, April 27.
The Northern 2A Regional Championships will be back at Jackpot Golf Course on Friday, May 12.
“This was our best team score of the year on the course where we will compete for regional tournament so this was a positive improvement for us,” said BMHS coach Roger Wallock. “Hopefully, this will motivate us to continue to get better and have a chance to compete well at the zone tournament in May.”
