Nicholas “Nick” Lane Henderson passed away on Wednesday, October 5th, 2016 at the age of 15 in Winnemucca, Nevada. Nick was born on February 7, 2001 in Elko, Nevada, son of Katherine I. Fortin and Cory D. Henderson. Nick’s primary residence was with his mother in Winnemucca, NV, however he lived with his father for a period in Aberdeen, MD and spent extended visitations and vacations with his father, step-mother Nisha and brothers, Damarius and Kaleb and sister Lakisha. Nick attended Grass Valley Elementary School, French Ford Middle School, Winnemucca Junior High, and was currently a student at Albert M. Lowry High School.
Nick is survived by his parents, Katherine I. Fortin of Winnemucca, Nevada and Cory D. Henderson of Killeen, Texas; brothers, Brian Paul Meierholtz, Christopher R. Meierholtz, Damarius K. Henderson, Kaleb D. Henderson, and Morgan J. Meierholtz; sisters Lakisha S. Henderson and Bronwyn E. Meierholtz; grandparents Clyde W. White and Mary Henderson-White, and grandfather Galen D. Fortin; stepmother Nisha K. Elkington-King; uncles Frank W. Fortin, Sherman R. Puryear, and Michael Benzel; aunt Karen M. Rogers; cousins Brandon and Sarah Henderson, Candice Henderson, and William B. Fortin; and numerous other loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Nick was preceded in death by his aunt Katrina E. Henderson and cousin Andrea N. Henderson.
Nick was a lover of sports and had participated in taekwondo, track and field, football, and was an avid fan of the Seattle Seahawks. He also enjoyed gaming. He was looking forward to obtaining his driver license and the freedom of movement that it would bring. Nick was known for his energetic demeanor, bright smile and unique personality, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A service was held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Word of Light Fellowship, Winnemucca, Nevada.
