The Battle Mountain High School girls soccer team came away with a split of its two home matches this past weekend.
The Lady Longhorns took on one of the top teams in its division on Friday afternoon, and suffered a 3-0 loss. Despite falling to the Bobcats, BMHS coach Dave Marz was proud of the effort.
“It was our best performance against the Lady Cats,” said Marz. “Goalkeeper Megan (Lofthouse) was the team MVP this game making amazing saves as the hottest team in soccer took 30 shots on goal. Megan made some amazing saves against the highest scoring team in the league.”
Battle Mountain bounced back on Saturday to beat West Wendover 3-1. Sruti Bhakta had three goals in the contest for her fourth hat trick of the season. Abbie Okresik had two assists and Kandise Baird added an assist.
Battle Mountain hits the road on Friday to take on Pershing County in Lovelock at 2 p.m. The Lady Longhorns will be in Winnemucca on Saturday to face the Lowry JV at 10 a.m.
